Variety introduces Program Office in 2008
The newly developed Program Office has been mandated to develop and deliver educational, inclusive, empowering and fun programming to children of all abilities according to their desires and needs, within their own communities.  Outreach programs include Fitness Friends, Healthy Buddies and Variety on the Road (VOTR).  Over the next few months, we will introduce you to all three programs in further detail, as well as keep you abreast of all the exciting Program developments and events!

 

New Honorary Patron of Variety Ontario
Variety is pleased announce that Ontario’s Lieutenant Governor, The Hon. David C. Onley has accepted the position of Honorary Patron of Variety. His Honour has championed disability issues on many fronts and for many years. Having lived with polio since the age of three, he has broken through social barriers and become a role model for many people so he is a natural fit with the mission of Variety Ontario. 2008 Ontario ParaSport Summer Games
Variety Village was successful in its bid to host The 2008 Ontario ParaSport Summer Games coming up on July 25 and 26. Margarett Best, Minister of Health Promotion, broke the news at a press conference held at Variety Village on January 22.  This set of Games is the Provincial Championships for all the summer Paralympic Sports.  These will include; Track and Field, Boccia, Wheelchair tennis, Goalball (for blind athletes), Equestrian and Weightlifting. Robert
Hero
Over the past few years Robert has accomplished more than many of us will in a lifetime. At age 15, he is the founder of his own charity, a motivational speaker, a Variety Village Ambassador and a Paralympian. On February 9, Robert was honoured as a recipient of The King Clancy Award. The award is presented to Canadians whose outstanding accomplishments have increased public awareness about the potential of disabled people.
