Kyle
Kyle, age 22, became a member
of Variety Village when he was 14. Positive and exuding confidence,
Kyle says Variety Village has given him — and thousands of
others — a new life. “As they say here, it’s not
your disability, it’s your ability.” Today, Kyle is
a program instructor and player at Variety Village, and one of the
best wheelchair basketball players in the country.
“I am very competitive when it comes to organized sports.
I want to win and I want to get the ball in the net. I don’t
like to lose,” he admits. He just returned from the 2007 Winter
Games in Whitehorse where he won a silver medal with Team Ontario.
He now hopes to play in the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing.
For the moment, Kyle plans to focus on basketball.
His lifelong dream is to become a broadcast journalist. He’s
already a guest on The Edge 102.1 with Dean Blundell every Tuesday
morning.
